  • February: Black History Month

    Events:
    Film for Thought: “Six Triple Eight”
    Tuesday, Feb. 4 | 6:30 p.m. | Ryan Room

    In 1943, the all-Black 6888th Battalion of the Women's Army Corps is tasked with sorting years' worth of backlogged mail for soldiers during WWII, bringing hope to families despite doubts from military leaders. Over 800 women fight against the odds to reconnect soldiers with loved ones.

    All month

    Celebrate the voices of African American authors through individual readings, classroom activities, library events, community gatherings and virtual activities.

    Spirit Week Hosted by Black Student Achievement
    To be announced

    Keynote address: “Black Reformers and the Great Migration to Pittsburgh”
    Friday, Feb. 21 | Ryan Room | 1 p.m.

    Dr. Adam Lee Cilli, assistant professor of history at University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, will discuss Black migrant experiences in interwar Pittsburgh, racial activism and Black involvement in the labor movement.
