SpaceBurgh is a festival of space science, robotics, and science fiction, taking place in Pittsburgh on October 19th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Our mission is to inspire and educate the public about the wonders of space through engaging activities, interactive exhibits, and fascinating presentations.
Pittsburgh is an emerging space city with significant advancements in robotics, astronomy, and space science.
SpaceBurgh aims to highlight these achievements and bring the community together for a day of exploration and discovery.
Space is about hope, perspective, collaboration and inspiration.
Explore our exciting lineup of activities and experiences at the SpaceBurgh Festival:
- NASA Astronaut Woody Hoburg will be present for a fireside chat with the Mars Robotics Association, starting at 5pm, and to meet and sign autographs.
- Interactive Space Exhibits: Get hands-on with science and technology.
- Robotics Demonstrations: See robots in action from K-12 groups, Carnegie Mellon University, and professional partners like Astrobotic.
- Carnegie Science Center interactive exhibits: Rolling Rovers (Participants will construct and test a vehicle that can successfully roll across a variety of uneven and dangerous terrain), and the Return Voyage (participants can test different objects in a vertical wind tunnel.
- Demos from the Allegheny Observatory, Moonshot Museum, and University of Pittsburgh: Discover the wonders of the universe.
- Science Fiction and Culture: Immerse yourself in the world of sci-fi with panels and presentations.
- Food & Drinks: Enjoy delicious food and space-themed brews from local craft brewers.
- Live Music: Groove to spacey tunes throughout the day.
