Daedalum, one of the latest structures to come from Architects of Air will transport visitors into a sanctum of calm, relaxing hues that entertain and dance with your senses! As my son and I stepped inside of Daedalum's atmosphere and the outside world vanished, it was not surprising how easily we became immersed in the ambience Architects of Air has created here. Teens will love it as well as smaller children. It is truly a fantasy world brought to life! The best news is that Pittsburghers can enjoy Daedalum into September! Conveniently located in The Cultural District's popular Backyard at 8th and Penn, it is a must see destination to wow yourself and your out-of-town guests!
The visionary design of founder, Alan Parkinson, combined with his son, Meko's, Tree element, and Main Dome feature instantly took us on a stunning luminary adventure around every mystical corner. The luminaria is the size of half a football field and is made of a very thin layer of PVC which allows the structure the ability to be transient. It is the founder's fascination with Islamic shapes and structures that were the influence of the kaleidoscope of colors represented within each aspect of this and the past luminary designs.
Another feature of this spectacular immersive attraction is the ambient music that plays as visitors explore each passage. If you are thinking that this would be a great place for yoga, you are in luck because each Saturday at noon yoga classes will be held within the luminaria. This is the longest run for a structure of this size to be available to us here in downtown Pittsburgh! So, make your plans to visit and leave your troubles and shoes at the door.
Advanced and group ticket savings are available if you order online. Architects of Air: Daedalum will reopen this Friday, July 7 and will be here until September 4th!
