The ToonSeum is excited for a summer bursting with creativity including several camps dedicated to children and teens who are as excited about art and imagination as we are. We will host several multi-day camps including our Teen Comic Camp for middle and high school age students as well as our How-To-Toon: Cartooning Basics and Superhero Training Academy for our younger campers. In addition to these multi-day camps we will also be hosting a series of one-day mini-camps for our elementary age students. All supplies will be provided for students. Space is limited to thirty students per camp.
How-To-Toon Cartooning Basics Ages 6-12

How to Toon Cartooning Basics Learn the basic skills needed to create your own cartoon characters and then bring them to life. Through simple line exercises and easy-to-follow step-by-step lessons, students will be amazed at their own skills and abilities. With a strong emphasis on character development through personality, costume, character relationships and plot, this class not only reinforces drawing skills, but provides students with logical formulas for visual storytelling.

July 11th- Furry Friends and Cartoon CrittersCalling all animal lovers! During the Furry Friends and Cartoon Critters Mini-Camp you will learn to draw amazing animals such as Rabbits, Dogs, Cats and even the peculiar Platypus! Also students will even have the opportunity to draw their own pet!
July 22nd- Mazes and Monsters Monsters and Mazes oh my! Join the ToonSeum for this a-MAZE-ing mini-workshop Students will learn to design their own maze from scratch complete with twists, turns and the dreaded dead end. Students will become monster masterminds designing creepy, crawly creatures that will add a hair-raising element to their monsteriffic maze.
July 29th –Animation LabStudents can bring characters to life in this one-day animation mini-session. Starting with a basic character, students will design and learn how to bring their character to life as they learn about drawing and motion. They will also learn some fun facts about the history of animation and how animation came to be what it is today. The class will finish with each student designing their own working flip-book.
Teen Comic Creation CampAges 12-18
$175 non-members/ $150.00 members
August 12th & 13th
Students will learn how to create and design their own comic in this two-day camp geared towards teens. Students will learn how to develop characters and design artistic backgrounds. They will also take part in building a theme, plot and story for their comic as well as improve their presentation skills through a final showcase of their work. In addition, they will learn how to pitch their comics to companies and learn basic marketing skills. This camp is recommended for basic to intermediate students.
Superhero Training CampAges 6-12
$150.00 non-members/ $125.00 members
July 15th & 16th
Superhero Training Academy is designed to reinforce creativity and civic responsibility by exploring the basic moral codes of community activism, good citizenship, and personal fitness in a fun and challenging format. Students will meet real-life “Superheroes” including firefighters, police officers, and local politicians who work for the good of the people of Pittsburgh and will be asked to offer their solutions to the problems that face our city. รขโฌยจAll heroes will receive a diploma from the ToonSeum Superhero Training Academy, a Superhero cape, mask, and design-it-yourself t-shirt, as well as all supplies needed for the day
