Ice Crystal Treasure Hunt

Ice Treasure Crystals

Send those kiddos out in the snow drifts searching for scattered crystal treasures!  Ice Crystals that is!  These are so much fun and the kids LOVED them.   Scatter them all over the yard for bigger kids or in a smaller area for little ones.  Hand over some shovels and pails or let them dig with their hands to find them.  Make sure you know how many you hid-- just in case you need to say " there's one more hidden!"  You might get a second cup of coffee this way.

You need only ONE thing on hand to make this happen. Some sort of color.  Use food coloring or koolaid packet coloring. Use your on hand ice cube trays or go all out and search the globe for unique shaped ice cube trays.  So many ideas come to mind.  Alphabet letters, snowmen shapes and more.  However, simple plain ice cube trays DO THE JOB.

Fill er up.

Fill up your trays with water.  Be sure they are not overfilled.  You want each color droplet to remain in it's section and overage of water can cause all the color to leak into other sections.  I learned the hard way.  It sill worked but--- let's do this to perfection!

Freeze them.

Haul them out when the SNOW HITS and have some fun.  They're awesome!
Warning-- they are COLORFUL and WILL get color on snow and clothes.  Heads up.  This can get a little messy.

Send them searching and watch the fun ensue!
