Back to School Photo Opportunities

By Ann Fisk, Macaroni Kid Franklin July 30, 2014
A dear friend is sending her first child off to kindergarten this year. Now, I have no idea what can alleviate all of the emotions that "first-time" parents go through, but I was wondering if having some annual "Back to School" photo traditions may ease some of those 'First Day Blues' for Mommy and Daddy?

Here are a few photo ideas that I've come up with. Many of these will work at any time during the year, so don't worry if you didn't get them all on the first day!
  • Your child(ren) wearing his/her backpack
  • Standing next to an object/location that you can use each year, like a tree or lampost in your yard, or at the bus stop
  • Standing with sibling(s) and/or pets
  • Lunchbox - inside & out
  • Getting on and/or getting off the school bus
  • Standing next to the school sign or main entrance (if you drop your child off)
  • Later in the month/year: with their teacher(s); next to/on their favorite playground equipment; with their BFFs of the year
What are your favorite "Back-to-School" photo opportunities?  Are there unique opportunities for home-schooling families?  Do you have any school photos from your childhood that you treasure?

Feel free to share your favorite photos on our Facebook page.
