“What is this ‘PittsburghPass’ I’ve Heard About?”

PittsburghPass includes a one-time admission to FIVE of our city’s best attractions; all for $83.9

By Miranda Bauer, Founder of PittsburghPass April 9, 2014
I’m a local Pittsburgh mom and, as the founder of PittsburghPass, I am thrilled at how excited other local moms are about this product! I introduced PittsburghPass last spring based on my previous staycation experience as well as my desire for a Pittsburgh summer ticket product that included a variety of activities for my family and I to enjoy.  This year, PittsburghPass includes a one-time admission to FIVE of our city’s best attractions; all for $83.99. You receive admission to the Children’s Museum, Sandcastle, Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Kennywood, and Carnegie Science Center!  This offer provides families with the opportunity to experience all of the summer fun that Pittsburgh has to offer, at a heavily discounted rate.

By now, many Pittsburghers have heard of PittsburghPass, but they are finding themselves wanting to learn a little more.  Below you’ll find some commonly asked questions that may be helpful to you in planning this summer’s PittsburghPass staycation for you and your family!  Keep in mind, PittsburghPasses are available online only at www.pittsburghpass.com now through June 7th!

At what age are children free?

Children under 2 years old are free. However, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Children’s Museum only provide free admission to children “under 24 months of age;” if you have a child between the ages of 24-35 months (2-3 years old) then you may purchase the Toddler-Ticket-Add-On for these two venues at a discounted rate.  All children ages 3 and older do require a full-priced PittsburghPass to gain admission to all venues.

Is there a separate price for children?

No, every PittsburghPass is $83.99, regardless of adult or child status.  The really cool part about this is that $83.99 is CHEAPER than the regular child admission rate!
Is my PittsburghPass transferable?
Yes! If you cannot make it to one of the venues included in the PittsburghPass, then you can share that admission ticket with a friend (it may even make a great gift)!  Additionally, if you already have a yearly membership to one of the five venues included in the PittsburghPass, no problem; you can also share that venue’s PittsburghPass admission ticket with a friend (or invite grandma to your next outing)!

How much is shipping and handling?

Shipping and handling is only $2.99/pass.  We provide tracking information with your shipment to ensure security and peace-of-mind until the big day: PittsburghPass delivery day!  We also diligently process your PittsburghPasses so that you are SURE to receive them in time for the official start of summer!  With regular adult admission costing $119.93, your PittsburghPass will save you a lot of money this summer.

How long is the 2014 PittsburghPass valid?

The PittsburghPass is valid through the 2014 summer season, ending August 31, 2014. Most venues included in this year’s PittsburghPass are offering extended admission seasons, which are as follows:

Kennywood: PittsburghPass valid through September 14, 2014. Please note that limited days of operation occur after August 31, 2014.

Sandcastle: PittsburghPass valid through August 31, 2014.  Please note that limited days of operation occur after August 17, 2014.

Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium: PittsburghPass valid through December 31, 2014. Please note the following blackout dates:  Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Carnegie Science Center: PittsburghPass valid through November 1, 2014. Please note the following blackout dates:
June 21, 2014

Because of heavy traffic and traffic restrictions on the North Side, Carnegie Science Center is typically closed on days when there are Steelers home games or other major events at Heinz Field.

The Children’s Museum: PittsburghPass valid through December 31, 2014. Please note the following blackout dates:
July 4, 2014
Sep. 1 & 2, 2014
Nov. 27-Dec 1, 2014

*SPECIAL NOTE: June 21st and November 8th are FREE days at the Children’s Museum! No admission tickets necessary!

What are blackout dates?

Blackout dates are days in which the venue will not accept admission because the venue will be closed for operation on that particular day.
