Baker's Dozen Academy Now Open For Registration

February 4, 2016

Baker’s Dozen Academy, a North Hills after-school baking program for kids run by culinary artists Debbie Dee and Teri Koms, will be holding a series of four monthly 90-minute classes in Cranberry Township’s Municipal Center starting February 13.  Each Saturday class has two sessions, one beginning at 9:30 for children ages 5 through 8, another starting at 11:30 for those age 9 through 13.

In the first class, Yummy Valentine’s Day Treats, participants assemble holiday-themed confections – marshmallow and Oreo pops for the younger children and a mousse-filled chocolate bowel for the older ones.  Leprechaun Treats & More on March 12 celebrates St. Patrick’s Day and Easter with chocolate covered popcorn and thin mint bark as well as cookie dough eggs dipped in chocolate.  Tie Dye Sugar Cookie, on April 16, has children mix, bake, roll and create cookies of their own design, while Mother’s Day Gift on May 7 involves whipping up double chocolate and strawberry shortcake cupcakes.

Registration is separate for each individual class.  Children are encouraged to bring home their work, whose creation helps improve their math and listening skills.

Registration for the Baker’s Dozen Academy programs is available in person at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center Parks & Recreation Information Desk, online at the Township Web site, www.cranberry4FUN.com/Register, or by phone at 724-779-4FUN (4386).  A program fee of $35 for residents, $40 for non-residents, is payable at the time of registration.
